Battle flag of the 42nd Georgia Infantry, Company D. What makes this flag unique, besides the Georgia coats of arms in the center, is the 15 stars. Very few examples of 15 star flags exist, which included the 13 Confederate states plus the border states of Maryland and Delaware.

The regiment was assembled at Camp McDonald in Georgia, in March of 1862.
