Flag - 2nd SC Cavalry
The original 2nd SC Cavalry flag, which this is based on, belonged to Company D. The 2nd SC Cav was organized on August 22, 1862 in the low country and midlands of South Carolina by the consolidation of the 4th SC cavalry battalion and the cavalry from Hampton's SC Legion. In May of 1864 the infantry of Hampton's SC Legion was mounted and the group became Hampton's South Carolina Cavalry Legion.

The 2nd SC Cavalry fought during most of the war, including Second Manassas, South Mountain, Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, Brandy Station, Second Winchester, Upperville, Gettysburg, Bristoe, Mine Run, Todd's Tavern, The Wilderness, Ground Squirrel Church, and Brooks' Church. The united Hampton's SC Cavalry Legion went on to fight at Cold Harbor, Appomattox and numerous battles around the James River.
