Flag - Arkansas Hocker 1912
When it was found the state didn't have an official flag a design was proposed by school teacher Willie K Hocker, a member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution. Her design included a diamond, as Arkansas was the only known state with diamonds at the time, along with 25 stars symbolizing the state being the 25th admitted to the union. In the center was a row of three stars. The original Hocker design remains in the state museum. The design was changed to include the name ARKANSAS with a star placed above the name, and two below. This altered version became the state flag in 1913.
