The original Star Spangled Banner! This design became the official US flag in 1795 and was the only time the US flag had 15 stripes instead of 13. The stripes and stars represented the original 13 colonies, plus Vermont and Kentucky, and was used for 23 years - including the time of the bombardment of Fort McHenry, immortalized in the Star Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key.
