The 2nd Kentucky Infantry was organized in Tennessee at Camp Boone on August of 1861. It became part of the First Kentucky Brigade, known as the Orphan Brigade. The 2nd Kentucky Infantry recorded over 800 men in 1861, but by 1863 listed less than 300. It surrendered on April 26th, 1865 in Washington, Georgia.
